what is yeombul?
Yeombul is the practice of reciting or recollecting the names of the Buddha.
It is a translation of the term buuddhanusmti or buddhasati, which means Buddha contemplation or Buddha invocation.
Why do we think of the Buddag at all? Every one of us at home point in our lives has mimicked the hairdo or fashion style of our favorite stars. If we interact with or think of a peson often enough, ou own actions and thoughts start to echo those of the peson. If we invoke the Buddha often enough in ou mind, before we know it, we would be as composed in action, as gentle in speech and as calm and exact in thoughts as the Buddha. All Buddhas have made a solemn vow that " all living being shall revel in the same joy and peace as I do." If we havw our mind etched with their names and the thought of them, the power vested in their vows eliminates suffering fom our mind and makes peace and wisdom flow. Yeombul is a practice by which one conquers all suffeings and attains ultimate bliss by ardently invoking and chanting the names of Buddha and Bodhisattvas.
